Our 5 day Amazon jungle tour from Iquitos is the deepest way to experience the rainforest with Marupa Amazon Tours: three nights at Marupa Lodge, in the riverside village of Puerto Miguel, and one night camping in the jungle. A private vehicle takes you from Iquitos airport to the city of Nauta (about 1.5 hours), and a river boat continues to the lodge.
The Apacharama program follows blackwater routes where you can see boas, birds and other animals. You will canoe the Ucayali River at sunset, spend a full day on the water reaching a lookout where the main Amazon rivers meet, and go recreational fishing for piranha and other river fish. Two night excursions look for tarantulas, scorpions, caimans, boas and snakes, and a jungle hike leads to your camp for a night in the forest.
On the last morning you visit the giant Victoria regia water lilies before returning to Iquitos. Wildlife sightings depend on luck and the season, and the program is flexible to adapt to conditions.
