Our 3 day Amazon jungle tour from Iquitos takes you to Marupa Lodge, a rustic jungle lodge in the riverside village of Puerto Miguel, for two nights of wildlife, river life and local culture. We pick you up at Iquitos airport, drive to the city of Nauta (about 1.5 hours by road) and continue by river boat to the lodge.
From there, local guides lead canoe rides to look for pink and grey river dolphins, forest walks in an upland area where monkeys and birds are often seen, recreational fishing for piranha and other river fish, and two night excursions in search of tarantulas, caimans and other nocturnal animals. On the last morning you visit giant Victoria regia water lilies and the native community of Puerto Miguel before heading back to Iquitos.
The Sabalillo program is our shortest jungle lodge stay, ideal if you have limited time but want a complete first experience of the Peruvian Amazon. Wildlife sightings depend on luck and the season, and our guides adapt the activities to the conditions.
