Our 4 day Amazon jungle tour from Iquitos gives you three nights at Marupa Lodge, a rustic jungle lodge in the riverside village of Puerto Miguel, with more time to explore than our shortest program. A private vehicle takes you from Iquitos airport to the city of Nauta (about 1.5 hours), and a river boat completes the journey to the lodge.
The Yanayacu program is set in an upland area of the jungle where red monkeys can be seen [CONFIRMAR especie]. You will look for pink and grey river dolphins by canoe, hike forest trails to see medicinal trees, birds and sloths, go recreational fishing, and join two night excursions for caimans, snakes, tarantulas and other nocturnal animals.
What sets this program apart is a full canoe day on the Yanayacu River, where you can spot birds such as the horned screamer and hoatzin, capybaras and other wildlife, followed by a visit to the native community of Puerto Miguel to see local crafts. On the last morning you paddle out to the giant Victoria regia water lilies before returning to Iquitos.
Wildlife sightings depend on luck and the season, and the program is flexible to adapt to conditions.
